EAT and DRINK

zurück/back The Japanese food is very veried. For some years now, it’s also very popular in Europe.

The basic food of Japanese cuisine is the rice, but there are also lots of fish, meat, vegetables, seafood and pasta dishes.

A Japanese meal usually consists not only of one course, but of a variety of plates and small bowls with different small bites.

An important part of a Japanese meal is the miso soup. This is a soup of misopaste, seaweed, spring onions and tofu. It belongs to the Japanese breakfast as well as to the other meals.

Famous are of course Sushi and Maki:
Rice with fish and vegetables served in small pieces with pickled ginger, wasabi and soy sauce.

Tempura: Vegetables and seafood baked in oil.

Teriyaki: fish, meat or vegetables marinated in teriyaki sauce and then grilled or fried.

Japanese vegetable curry with or without meat with rice is also one of my favorite dishes.

Tea is the most popular beverage in Japan and is often served in the restaurants for free.

The famous rice wine is called Sake. Personally, it is too strong for me. I'll drink Ume-soda; This is a "plum liqueur spritzer" - very good and refreshing in the hot summer.

Very popular in the hot summer is also the Kakigōri - a shaved ice cream, which is served with syrup (for example, strawberry or green tea).
