Japan's traditional clothing is the kimono, which is mostly made of silk.
Kimonos are available for men and women.
The difference is in the used colors and patterns.
Nowadays, kimonos are only worn on special occasions.
A special form of kimonos is the Yukata.
This is a light cotton kimono that is worn only in summer.
There are quite simple Yukata, which you can find in hotels and spa houses as pajamas,
but also those, with which you go on summer festivals.
I had the impression on my trip that this clothing is now again becoming more and more popular,
because I saw more people in traditional clothes than on our last visit to Japan five years ago,
not only in Kyoto, but also in Nara and Osaka.
